Answers to common questions

Beginning a new design project can be intimidating if you have never been down that road before. Below you will find some project-specific answers to prepare you before our initial meeting or simply soak in some extra knowledge.

General Questions

Nope! We serve clients nationwide without a hitch. International? Shoot us a message and we'll see if it's a good fit.
We work from home and various spots around Austin.
At Left Hand Design you'll have one contact from beginning to end of your project. You'll never be handed off to another account person, designer, or developer.

We also have a hand-chosen, talented array of photographers, illustrators, developers, writers, and more to provide creative assistance for your projects should you need it. Not to mention great relationships with several local printers.

We work hard to give you a very hands-on approach.

Agencies are great, typically full of creative talent. They're best used for big-budget clients as they're usually very expensive. You're paying their overhead on top of inflated pricing. We grew through the agency world, agencies of all shapes and sizes, so we know exactly how it works.

Logo Design Questions

Clients typically come to us with nothing more than a name and a vision. We initiate every logo project with a phone call or face-to-face meeting, at the client’s discretion. From there, LHD will provide the client with a creative brief consisting of 20-25 questions. These questions allow us to analyze the project from every angle, insuring the client gets the exact logo needed for their brand.
Every logo development consists of a set amount of upfront concepts discussed in our initial meeting. Revisions don't usually go more than three rounds before a final logo is chosen, but if the logo development exceeds five rounds, there may be an extra charge. In the end you will receive vector files for print and transparent png files for web. Files will be separated out in color, black & white, and reversed (white) versions.

Every logo development will include the following:
1.) Primary logo
2.) Secondary logo
3.) Social media icon
4.) Primary and secondary color palettes (including a list of Pantone, RGB values, CMYK values, and web colors)
5.) Links to purchase fonts used (if any) in your logo

In certain circumstances, if the logo we design for you is needed in a different size or format, you can reach out to LHD at any time and we'll always reformat it for you FREE of charge.
No, but it helps! It's nice to know where your taste for design lies. We've had clients draw up ideas, email examples, or create Pinterest boards for inspiration. Certainly not required though.
Yes! Typically, these are quoted at our hourly rate.
Generally it takes one to two weeks for the delivery of the first round. Sometimes it will take longer if we're busy.
No, but we will provide you with where you can purchase them when we send you the final document of all your final files. When you purchase a font, you're buying a license for you to personally use that font and unfortunately that cannot to be shared.

Website Design Questions

Send us a message through our website and we'll set up a call or face-to-face meeting to discuss your project. Consider this an interview of sorts used to determine what direction you're looking to take your website. We'll make suggestions based on the information you provide, namely in regards to industry, purpose, audience, design, and more, and provide an accurate line-itemed quote to get things moving.

Yes. Plug-in's provide the foundation of certain functionalities within a Wordpress website. We typically use a lot of the same plug-in's built by trusted developers to ensure proper security and reliability through updates in Wordpress, after all, that's one of the main reasons why Wordpress is so powerful! We will typically restyle the plug-in to fit within the design of your custom website.
No. We find it better that our clients are billed directly from the hosting companies, always having access to their own files. We will provide recommendations and instructions for signing up for your own hosting.

Yep! We develop our websites to be exceptionally user-friendly behind the scenes. Specific instructions are relayed to our dev team for each website we build as to how it's updated by the user. It's important to us that our clients find ease in updating their own websites. At the end of a website project, we supply clients with a walkthrough of Wordpress, including exactly how to log in and update their website. If needed, we'll also create a video specific to YOUR website on how to log in and make the edits you need so you will always have something to refer back to. It's of the utmost importance to us that, once a website is complete, you understand how to use it. We know that just because a website is built on Wordpress, doesn't necessarily make it user-friendly.
