Sisterdale Distilling Co. is a small bourbon distillery based out of Sisterdale, Texas. There’s small batch bourbon, then there’s these guys. With super limited supply and great tasting Texas bourbon, Sisterdale Distilling is one to keep an eye out for. They continue to release various vintages and varietals, something for all bourbon palettes to enjoy.
Sisterdale approached Left Hand Design in it’s infancy stage. Everything was up in the air from a branding perspective, but the aging of their bourbon was well underway and almost ready to hit bottles for the first time. We started with the bourbon logo design to set the tone for the brand, the Australian Shepherd icon was influenced by the working dogs they have on their ranch in Sisterdale, Texas. Not only a loyal companion to the family, but incredibly hard working and trustworthy. These values represent everything their bourbon stands for, so it was a natural fit. From there we created a split bourbon label design that featured handwritten dates and batch numbers for the products. We went on to design ads, banners, a splash page, social media templates and more.
Sisterdale Distilling aimed for a label that was both elegant and simple. So many bourbon labels that sit on shelves feature foils, embossment, intricate die-cuts, super detailed designs and other elements that all blend together and make them hard to stand out on a shelf – so we did the opposite for their first batches. They wanted the bourbon to show through and be the hero of the product, compliment the bottle well and encourage the consumer to pick it up.
